How much does an online store cost in Latvia?
Building an online store in Latvia in 2026 costs from about €1,500 to €5,500 + VAT, based on the public price lists we found (checked 25 October 2026). The pages show no date for their prices, so we state when we opened them.
These amounts are not directly comparable, because for a similar price contractors deliver a different scope. One offer does not describe what the package includes; another has a detailed list with unlimited products and several languages. Some contractors do not name a store price at all and only give a starting price for a website.
Our WooCommerce store costs from €1,000 and is ready within a week. That price covers up to about 100 products, one language and standard payments and delivery, so compare it only with an offer of a similar scope. More about our offer: online store development.
What affects the price of an online store?
The price of a store depends most on its scope: how many products, how many languages, which payments and delivery options, and whether the store has to connect to other systems. The full list of what raises our price above €1,000 is on the service page. Here are the same factors from the buyer's side: what to ask when you compare any price.
A similar amount does not mean similar work. One offer may include unlimited products and several languages; another, like our base price, covers up to about 100 products and one language.
| Factor | Why it changes the price | What to ask the contractor |
|---|---|---|
| Number of products | Each product needs a price, an image and a description; a large catalog needs an import | How many products the price covers and what happens if you have more |
| Catalog format | A spreadsheet can be imported right away; scattered data has to be collected again | Whether the price includes cleaning up the data or only the import |
| Languages | Each language has its own text, structure and navigation | How many languages the price covers and who prepares the translations |
| Payments and delivery | Standard options are faster to set up than custom ones | Which payment and delivery options are included |
| Accounting or warehouse | Data has to sync with an external system | Whether the integration is in the price and with which system |
| Migration from an old platform | The catalog has to be moved and old links kept, so you do not lose your place in Google | Whether old addresses will redirect to the new ones |
| Photos and descriptions | Creating content from scratch is separate work | Who prepares the content: the contractor or you |
What costs come on top of development?
On top of development, a store has running costs: the domain, hosting or a platform subscription, payment fees, extensions and delivery. Some are paid once a year, some every month, and fees on every purchase. The amounts in the table come from the providers' pages, checked 25 October 2026; check them with the provider before you pay.
Delivery prices are not in the table: we did not find a public business price list from a parcel locker operator, so ask the carrier for its rates before you launch the store. Hosting prices also vary a lot by provider and contract length, so we do not give one number.
| Cost | Price | Note |
|---|---|---|
| .lv domain | €12.00 per year + VAT (€14.52 with VAT) | NIC.LV price list, valid from 1 September 2023; we did not find a newer one |
| Card payments through Stripe | EEA cards 1.5% + €0.25; UK cards 2.5% + €0.25; international cards 3.15% + €0.25 | No monthly fee; currency conversion adds another 2% |
| WooCommerce | WooCommerce itself is free | Hosting and paid extensions are paid separately; WooPayments has no subscription fee but charges a fee per transaction |
| Shopify subscription | From $39 per month, or $29 per month billed yearly | Prices in US dollars; plans and fees in the next section |
| Delivery | We did not find a public business price list | Ask the carrier for its rates |
WooCommerce vs Shopify: which costs less?
There is no single answer: WooCommerce itself is free, but hosting and paid extensions are paid separately, while Shopify charges a monthly subscription. The Shopify Basic plan costs $39 per month, or $29 per month billed yearly; the Grow plan $105 ($79); the Advanced plan $399 ($299).
If your Shopify store uses a payment provider other than Shopify Payments, Shopify charges an extra fee: 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow and 0.6% on Advanced. Check whether Shopify Payments is available for your company in Latvia before you choose.
We build stores on WooCommerce. How to choose a platform by features, not only by price, is explained in WooCommerce vs Shopify.
Does the online store price include VAT?
In Latvian price lists, VAT is usually added on top of the store price, but not everyone says so. With 21% VAT, €1,000 becomes €1,210. That is our own calculation, not an amount published in any offer.
Our price is from €1,000 + VAT. When you compare offers, convert all amounts the same way: either all with VAT or all without it. 21% of €1,000 is €210, and that can be more than the difference between two offers.
What does it cost to run an online store each month?
Development is a one-time payment, but a store also has monthly costs: hosting or a platform subscription, payment fees and, if you need it, sales work. So when you compare offers, also ask what happens after launch and at what price.
With us, you can add separate services after launch. Ad management costs €250 per month (you pay the ad budget to the platforms yourself), and content and visibility costs €200 per month, so that your store is found both in Google and in AI answers. The price of emails to existing customers is agreed in a call. There is no annual contract: you can end a service with 30 days' notice, with no penalty.
What should an offer include so you can compare two prices?
You can compare two store prices only if both offers state the scope in writing. Without it, two similar amounts can hide completely different work. Ask for the offer to state:
- How many products and categories the price covers and what happens if you have more.
- How many languages the price covers and who prepares the translations.
- Which payment and delivery options are included and whether parcel lockers are among them.
- Whether the amount is with or without VAT.
- When the deadline starts: from the contract, from the advance payment or from the moment the contractor has received the materials and access.
- In whose name the domain, the store and all access will be registered.
- What support after launch includes and what it costs per month.
- What happens to the store and the data if you change contractors.
What does our price from €1,000 include?
Our base price from €1,000 and the one-week timeline cover a scope known in advance: a WooCommerce store with up to about 100 products, standard payments and delivery, one language and a catalog that is already in a spreadsheet or a file that can be imported. The week starts when we have received the materials and access, not when the contract is signed.
The domain, the store and all access are registered in your name, not ours. After launch you can change products, prices and descriptions yourself. Two WooCommerce projects we are allowed to name: we moved hybridenergy.lt to WooCommerce, keeping the catalog and the old links so it would not lose its place in Google, and in the citadel.lt store prices and discounts can be changed in bulk.
A larger catalog, several languages, an accounting integration or a migration from an old platform raise the price, and we say so before work starts. If the project includes an ERP, a warehouse system, a B2B portal, a multi-store setup or a very large catalog migration, it goes beyond our scope, and on such projects we work with partners. If you need a simple business website rather than a store, see websites and the article How much does a website cost for a small business.
